OIL PAINT - Fast Drying - Winsor & Newton GRIFFIN Alkyd - 37ml Tube - Indian Yellow
< Back to other colours
A vibrant yellow pigment which has been used by artists such as Turner. Originally a colour created in India from the urine of cows exclusively fed on mango leaves, Winsor & Newton created an alternative closely resembling the original.
As their name suggests these oil colours dry much more quickly than traditional oil paints, making it possible for glazing techniques and impasto to be done in a single session.
Drying time will be affected by the thickness of the paint and the ambient temperature but as a guide it tends to remain workable on the palette for 4-8 hours and is touch dry in 18-24 hours.
Available 48 tones, this range have a slightly greater level of transparency than traditional oils, providing increased depth and clarity when glazing. They are also a little more fluid in consistency and dry with a more reflective surface.
