OIL PAINT - Fast Drying - Winsor & Newton GRIFFIN Alkyd - 37ml Tube - Burnt Sienna
< Back to other colours
A rich brown pigment made by burning Raw Sienna. Named after Siena in Italy, where the pigment was sourced during the Renaissance, it is a transparent pigment with red-brown tones
As their name suggests these oil colours dry much more quickly than traditional oil paints, making it possible for glazing techniques and impasto to be done in a single session.
Drying time will be affected by the thickness of the paint and the ambient temperature but as a guide it tends to remain workable on the palette for 4-8 hours and is touch dry in 18-24 hours.
Available 48 tones, this range have a slightly greater level of transparency than traditional oils, providing increased depth and clarity when glazing. They are also a little more fluid in consistency and dry with a more reflective surface.
