Made using 450 gsm (approx. 13 oz) 100% Linen Canvas, the traditional choice for Artists, suitable for all Oils & Acrylics.
Sized, then primed with Clear Gesso allowing the artist to use linen canvas' beautiful, natural tone as a background.
Linen often displays fibres of different thicknesses and small 'slubs', giving a different surface to cotton canvas, creating a more organic feel.
Each canvas is hand-stretched over specially profiled, strong 20mm thick, pine wood stretcher bars.
The canvas is stapled on the reverse leaving the sides 'clean' allowing the finished artwork to be hung with or without a frame.
The stretcher bars have mitered corners are made with a free floating tongue and groove allowing the canvas to re-tensioned if required, using the supplied wedges. The larger sizes have cross bars to add strength and stability to the frame.
