A deep transparent red with a blueish undertone.

A synthetic lake pigment from the Madder plant, Alizarin Crimson was the first natural dye to be synthesised in 1868.

It has a smooth, buttery consistency allowing the paints to be used thickly with brushes & painting knives or it can be easily thinned to create fine glazes.
