Immerse Yourself in Creativity: Fishguard Arts Society Summer Open Exhibition 2025!

Posted by Jeff Rowley on

Mark your calendars, art enthusiasts! The highly anticipated Fishguard Arts Society (FAS) Summer Open Exhibition returns this August, promising a vibrant showcase of artistic talent from West Wales and beyond. From August 2nd to 26th, 2025, the magnificent Ballroom of Tregwynt Mansion will once again transform into a captivating gallery, open daily from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

This annual event is the cornerstone of the FAS calendar, and for good reason. It's a fantastic opportunity to witness a diverse range of 2D and 3D artwork across various media and genres. With over 80 pieces typically on display, you're sure to discover something that speaks to you. And the best part? All the artwork is for sale, offering a unique chance to take home a piece of Pembrokeshire's artistic soul.

A Historic Setting for Contemporary Art

Tregwynt Mansion, a beautiful Georgian family home nestled in the open countryside, provides a truly stunning backdrop for the exhibition. While the Ballroom itself is only accessible to the public during exhibition dates, the impressive views from its windows, overlooking the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, are a work of art in themselves. It's an experience that combines cultural immersion with the beauty of the Welsh landscape.

More Than Just an Exhibition: A Celebration of the Arts

The Fishguard Arts Society is renowned for fostering a vibrant artistic community, and this exhibition is no exception. Beyond the stunning visual art, visitors can look forward to a special musical evening on Saturday, August 16th, featuring Nia Harries and Elined Owen performing Ravel's Duo for cello and violin (Night Out / Noson Allan). Keep an eye on the FAS website for more details on this and other potential accompanying events, such as informal "Sketch Together" afternoons.

Support Local Talent and Cast Your Vote!

The Summer Open Exhibition is open to both FAS members and non-members aged 18 and over, making it a truly inclusive showcase. Artists compete for prestigious First and Second Prizes (worth £300 and £200 respectively, with the First Prize also featuring in the FAS magazine!). But perhaps the most exciting prize for visitors is the "People's Choice Prize," awarded at the close of the exhibition based on public votes. Your opinion matters, so be sure to pick your favourite!
